Becoming of age as a translator
Hello, I'm Dorien Das, I was born in The Netherlands in 1979 and as a young child I felt a strong attraction towards Spain and the Spanish-speaking world. I started studying the language in 2004, followed by several short to long-term visits to both Spain and Latin America, learning a lot about the cultures and, of course, the Spanish language. To test my proficiency I took the DELE exams of the Instituto Cervantes in 2010 the B2 and in 2019 the C2, which I passed. Not much later I added the Cambridge Proficiency Exam C2 to my resume. During the 2020/2021 academic year, I took advantage of the opportunity to pursue a master's degree at the University of Salamanca called Translation and Intercultural Mediation. To my delight, I noticed that this course is particularly suited to the specific and current needs in the translation sector.
Meanwhile, I had studied Philosophy at the Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, crowned with a Master of Arts degree in 2008; I had worked in various parts of Europe as a volunteer translator, adventure sports guide, financial management operator and until 2020 as an freelance industrial climber. In 2014 I decided to move permanently to Spain and I went to Granada. Now I live in Pamplona, a charming city in the north of Spain. With great joy, I work as an independent freelance translator, applying dedication and accuracy to transforming a wide range of publications from Spanish into Dutch and English into Dutch.
Beyond the passion and responsibility I feel for delivering high-quality translations and ensuring they correctly express the message of the original document while coming across naturally to the readers of the target language, I also handle personal data with the utmost confidentiality, ensuring your privacy is guaranteed.
